Student Mobility

The Caribbean Student Mobility Index was developed to help measure the movement of students from the English-speaking Caribbean region.  The index was created to provide an empirical picture of the push and pull factors that influence Caribbean student mobility.

How it Works

The index comprises six categories based on factors which could influence student mobility. These factors include socio-economic conditions, safety, population size, education system, immigration and access to finance. Such factors help to constitute a criterion from which a value is determined based on a set scale.

Scores are calculated using a rubric, where each category is assigned a score. Based on the criteria met in category, a corresponding value is assigned. The index is based on a total score of twenty-four (24) points.

An assessment is conducted to evaluate the different stages and variables that may exist across a country market.  The value assigned to a country is determined on the total score calculated across each category.
